At Prince & Sons, we bring over 40 years of experience in the meat industry. We have proudly traded on Horsell High Street since October 2011 and are a family-run business that takes great pride in both the quality of our products and the level of service we provide to our customers.
Steve Prince began his butchery career in 1978, starting out at Dewhurst Butchers in Woking, located on Wolsey Walk — now part of the Sainsbury’s in the Woking Shopping Centre. At just 18 years old, he moved on to Harford Brothers Butchers, where he spent many years working across their shops in Old Woking, Bisley, and New Haw.
After his time with Harford Brothers, Steve joined Robert and Edwards in Wimbledon. He remained there until the opportunity arose to open his own shop. Alongside his business partner at the time, Steve purchased a Robert and Edwards shop in Midhurst and renamed it Michael Courtney Family Butchers — with Michael taken from Steve’s middle name and Courtney from his business partner’s middle name.
Always living locally in Woking, Steve eventually decided it was time to reduce his commute to West Sussex and look for a shop closer to his family home in Knaphill. In 2011, the opportunity arose to purchase Graham Turners Butchers in Horsell.
Steve renamed the shop Prince & Sons, a dedication to his two sons, Lee and Sam — continuing the family tradition that remains
at the heart of the business today.
